Day 1:Cape Charles, VA

So far, so good. Mom and I are still speaking. Sammy has behaved well in the car, and hasn't embarrassed us too much at the bed and breakfast. The Egg is still running, and no one has been to the hospital.

Here are some highlights of the trip so far:
1. Departure was a little later than expected, around 8:20. Sammy was resigned to his place in the car.

2. There were no highlights in South Carolina. The interstate is boring, but it's a place we've seen before.

3. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is really cool. Mom and I went a little crazy with the picture taking there.

4. The Bed and Breakfast where we are staying is beautiful. It's called the King's Creek Inn. You can see for yourself. It would have been perfect if I hadn't lost our room key within 15 minutes of arriving, necessitating an hour long search for it. Mom found it under a bush. I know, it's so unlike me.

So tomorrow we are having breakfast here (apparently scones and coffee, followed by omelets) and then heading on for New Haven CT.
